In a unique initiative to foster harmony in families, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) organized a ‘Saas-Bahu Sammelan’ i.e. a Mother-in-law and Daughter-in-law Conference in Barmer on Sunday in Rajasthan’s Barmer. The event, held at the local Jangid Samaj building, witnessed enthusiastic participation from women across different communities.
The conference provided a platform for women to share their experiences and emphasize the significance of mutual respect in strengthening the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship. Many participants highlighted the importance of treating daughters-in-law as their own daughters to ensure family unity and happiness.
During the event, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law pairs were honored with shawls and souvenirs. A participating mother-in-law shared her personal experience, stating that her family’s support enabled her daughter-in-law to pursue further studies after marriage. “She had only completed her 12th grade, but with our encouragement, she qualified for NEET. We hope she secures a good job soon. A mother-in-law should support her daughter-in-law like her own child for the well-being of the family,” she said.
Similarly, a daughter-in-law at the conference stressed that a mother-in-law’s role is crucial in shaping a happy household. “A mother-in-law should treat her daughter-in-law with the same affection as a daughter, ensuring a harmonious environment at home,” she remarked.
Senior RSS pracharak Nandlal Baba underscored the significance of relationships, drawing parallels with historical hardships. He emphasized that love and mutual understanding form the foundation of a strong family. RSS Barmer division Sanghchalak Manohar Lal Bansal echoed similar sentiments, stating that family values are eroding due to modern influences. He urged families to maintain open communication and uphold traditions to preserve the essence of joint family systems.
