Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai on Thursday claimed that over one lakh people across the state have backed the party’s online campaign advocating the three-language policy under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He asserted that the BJP would continue its outreach efforts despite police action, questioning how many people the government could “illegally arrest.”
Annamalai also strongly condemned the detention of former Telangana and Puducherry Governor and BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan in Chennai. She was reportedly detained for conducting a public signature campaign in support of the initiative, allegedly without prior permission.
The campaign, titled ‘Samakalvi Engal Urimai’ (Equal Education is Our Right), was launched by the Tamil Nadu BJP to promote the NEP’s three-language formula. The party has accused the state government of suppressing their efforts and restricting public participation.
With growing support for the initiative, the BJP leadership has vowed to intensify its campaign, challenging the ruling DMK’s opposition to the NEP and its continued push for the state’s two-language policy. The controversy is expected to further escalate in the political landscape of Tamil Nadu.
This came in a response to the Tamil Nadu CM post accusing BJP leaders of questioning the patriotism of the DMK government, despite its contributions to national causes.
