The Chaumukhnath Mandir, located in the village of Nachane, of Madhya Pradesh, approximately 70 km from the district, dates back to the seventh century. It has been preserved by the Archaeological Survey of India, Jabalpur.
The Mandir features four forms of Lord Shiva and an ancient Shivling, which were discovered during excavations. It’s a significant spiritual centre, attracting visitors from distant places who come to seek blessings. It’s believed that the lord fulfils any wish made here.
The statue of lord Shiva, dating back to the seventh century during the Gupta period, depicts four distinct forms of the Bhagwan. The circular statue showcases the first form of Bhagwan Shiva as a groom.
In the second form, he appears as Ardhanarishwar. The third form shows the lord absorbed in meditation, while the fourth form portrays him drinking poison.
