In the ICU, an 82-year-old woman was hospitalized following falling at the Delhi airport while travelling with Air India, after an alleged denial of a pre-booked wheelchair.
The woman, the widow of a decorated Lieutenant General, had waited for over an hour for the wheelchair. She was left unattended, forcing her to walk despite her physical limitations.
The woman’s granddaughter accused the airline of failing to provide first aid and claimed that a wheelchair was offered only following the elderly woman boarded the aircraft with a bleeding lip and injuries to her head and nose.
Kanchan Gupta, Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, criticized the airline for negligence and questioned its ability to ensure passenger safety and manage operations effectively under the Tata Group’s ownership.
