Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reaffirmed his government’s commitment to Hindu traditions and national pride while managing the aftermath of the January 29 stampede at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.
While addressing officials from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and the Indian Postal Service in Lucknow, he highlighted the administration’s efficient crisis management efforts that prevented widespread panic among the eight core devotees and sadhus present at the time. This ensured the dignity of India’s grandest spiritual gathering, which remained intact.
The tragic incident, which occurred at the Sangam ghat on Mauni Amavasya, claimed at least 30 lives and left 60 others injured. The CM said that his government deployed medical aid, ensured seamless evacuation, and maintained order despite the enormity of the gathering.
