On Friday night, a Pakistani resident named Mufti Shah Mir, who was accused of helping Pakistan’s ISI spy agency in the kidnapping of former Indian Navy officer Kulbhushan Jadhav from Iran, was found shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the Balochistan region.
Mufti Shah Mir was a religious leader who called himself a ‘scholar’ in Balochistan. Earlier he had survived two attempts of life threats, as per local media.
While leaving a local mosque in Turbat after his night prayer, he was ambushed by gunmen riding motorcycles. He was shot multiple times at point-blank range and later died at the hospital.
According to Times of India, Mir was a member of the fundamentalist party Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) who worked as an arms and human trafficker under the cover of a scholar.
As per reports, he often visited terror camps in Pakistan, helped numerous terrorists to bypass the India-Pakistan border, and was also very close to the ISI.
Last week, two of Mir’s party members were also found dead in Khuzdar, Balochistan.
