Nagaland Assembly passed the state budget of Rs 24,699.83 crore for 2025-26 by voice vote on Saturday. The budget was presented by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who also handles the finance department.
The budget includes new initiatives such as the Skill Mission, which will train 5,000 youths, and the Living Morung Initiative to preserve Naga culture. Other key projects include a Solar Power Mission to tackle energy shortages and a Drone Training Centre to create job opportunities.
The government will also expand banking access in unbanked areas, introduce 40 new buses for better transport, and launch the Chief Minister’s Fellowship Programme to groom future leaders.
Nagaland Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer called it a holistic and far-sighted budget, reflecting the state’s progress. After the budget was passed, various financial committees were formed, and the session was officially closed.
