The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has arrested Tarun Raju, grandson of Atria Hotel’s owner, in a gold smuggling case linked to Kannada actress Ranya Rao.
Ranya was caught at Bengaluru airport with gold worth Rs 12.56 crore. Investigators found that she was in contact with Raju while smuggling gold from Dubai.
Officials suspect both were part of a larger smuggling network. During searches, authorities recovered gold and cash from Ranya’s home.
Meanwhile, Karnataka’s top police official Ramachandra Rao, Ranya’s stepfather, is also under investigation for his possible role in the case.
