Russian military officials reported that the air defence systems intercepted 337 drones over 10 regions overnight. The attack targeted Moscow and several border regions, resulting in two deaths and 18 injuries, including three children.
The massive assault came just hours before Ukraine-U.S. talks in Saudi Arabia, where top Ukrainian officials are set to meet U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz to discuss potential measures to end the conflict.
Ukraine may propose a ceasefire in the Black Sea to ensure safer shipping routes and discuss restrictions on long-range missile strikes. Among the 337 drones, 91 were intercepted over Moscow, marking the largest single attack on the Russian capital since the war started.
Over 70 drones were en route to Moscow before being taken down, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed. Several residential buildings and cars sustained damage, though officials described it as ‘insignificant’.
Other regions affected include Kursk (126 drones shot down), Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, and Ryazan.
