Former Indian spinner and one of the commentators in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Harbhajan Singh, found himself in a major controversy on Sunday. While commentating during the Sunrisers Hyderabad vs. Rajasthan Royals match, the former spinner compared English bowler Jofra Archer to a ‘Kali taxi’ (black taxi). Just seconds after his remarks, fans on social media flooded posts accusing Harbhajan of racism and seeking an apology from him on the matter.
“London me kaali taxi ka meter tez bhaagta hai, Aur yaha pe Archer sahab ka meter bhi tez bhaaga hai (Like the meter of London’s black taxis, Archer’s meter has also been on the higher side),” the commentator said. However, Harbhajan hasn’t clarified or apologised on the matter.
Meanwhile, many fans have claimed that the commentator’s remarks came because Archer didn’t impress much with the ball and leaked 76 runs in 4 overs, without taking a single wicket.
