The investigation started following a fire broke out at Justice Varma’s official residence on March 14. Large amounts of cash were found, during the cleanup while some of it burnt.
Later the Supreme Court released visuals of the cash. The seized phones belong to Tughlaq Road Police Station SHO Umesh Malik, Investigating Officer Havildar Roopchand, Sub-Inspector Rajneesh, two mobile bike patrol officers, and three PCR personnel.
Their statements have been recorded, and officials are checking if any proof was removed. The constable who was posted at Justice Varma’s residence come up with the details that at the night of fire accident (March 14), he was stopped from entering the room where pile of cash was found later.
