In a shocking case, the Maharashtra Police on Thursday detained a man from Mumbai hours after the body of his 32-year-old wife was discovered in a trolley bag inside their rented house in Southeast Bengaluru. The suspect, identified as Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar, allegedly killed his wife, Gouri Anil Sambrekar, before leaving the city.
According to Bengaluru Police, Khedekar himself alerted both the Maharashtra Police and the owner of the house, informing them about his wife’s body inside the flat. Authorities revealed that Khedekar had vacated Bengaluru on March 25 but only reported the incident on Thursday.
Initially, investigators suspected suicide; however, upon reaching the scene, they found Sambrekar’s body stuffed inside a trolley bag in the washroom. “Forensic analysts have found a stab injury on the body,” a police officer stated, confirming foul play in the case.
The motive behind the crime remains unclear, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances leading to the alleged murder.
Khedekar and Sambrekar had been married for two years and had only moved into the rented third-floor apartment in February this year. While Khedekar was employed as a project manager at a reputed private firm, Sambrekar was a homemaker actively searching for a job.
As the investigation unfolds, Bengaluru Police, in coordination with their counterparts in Maharashtra, are piecing together the details to ascertain what led to this gruesome incident.
