Actor Salman Khan recently faced backlash from some Islamist groups after posting pictures for his upcoming movie, which will be released this Eid.
In his tweet, Salman shared photos of himself wearing an eye-catching orange watch while leaning casually on a car. What caught people’s attention was the expensive gold-dial watch with an orange strap that he was wearing.
The watch, called the Ram Janmabhoomi watch, costs ₹34 lakhs. It is a special edition created by the luxury brand Jacob & Co., and has only 49 pieces in the world. This watch, which has previously been worn by Abhishek Bachchan, features a detailed design with images of the Ayodhya temple and sacred Hindu symbols.
After Salman posted the photos, many Islamists criticized him online for wearing the Ram Janmabhoomi watch, which has connections to Hindu heritage. Some also attacked the watch’s maker, Jacob & Co., whose founder is a Jewish man known for his strong support of Israel.
Some Islamist groups have criticized actor Salman Khan for wearing a Ram Janmabhoomi edition luxury watch. One person even called him a “murtad,” which means an apostate in Islam, for wearing a watch linked to the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
Another critic has called for a boycott of Salman’s upcoming movie Sikandar, accusing him of “mocking the Babri demolition” and the “anti-Muslim riots.” This person, who strongly supports the Palestinian cause, didn’t explain why the Ram Janmabhoomi movement—similar to the Palestinian reclamation effort—is wrong, while the Palestinian struggle is considered just.
Salman Khan’s Sikandar is a much-awaited action movie set to release on Eid 2025. Directed by A. R. Murugadoss, the film promises thrilling action and drama. It will be Salman’s first movie with Murugadoss, a director known for his big hits. Fans are eagerly looking forward to it.
