Bajinder Singh, a self-styled pastor, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Mohali District Court for a rape case from 2018. This follows a complaint from a woman in Zirakpur, Punjab, who accused him of sexual harassment.
The court convicted Bajinder Singh on March 28, and the victim is happy with the life sentence. She expressed her gratitude to the judiciary and everyone who supported her through this long struggle. She said she has faced many challenges over the past seven years, including selling everything she had and being attacked, but this judgment has helped her move on from those hard times.
The victim shared that she had been pressured by political figures to settle the case, but she was determined to see Bajinder Singh punished for his actions. She claimed that Singh would make her sit alone with him at the church, send inappropriate texts, and touch her inappropriately. He also threatened her and her family if she reported him to the police.
Bajinder Singh was charged under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for sexual harassment, stalking, and criminal intimidation. He and five others were brought to court on March 19, but the five co-accused were acquitted.
