With the Waqf Amendment Bill being tabled in the Lok Sabha, security measures have been intensified across Uttar Pradesh to maintain law and order. Police forces in key cities, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Sambhal, have ramped up patrolling and are engaging with the public to ensure peace and stability.
In Lucknow, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP-Central) Ashish Srivastava emphasized that law enforcement officials are in constant dialogue with the public, addressing concerns and urging citizens to understand the constitutional framework behind the Bill.
“Police have been in continuous contact with the public regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill. We are engaging with people, listening to their grievances, and encouraging them to recognize this as a constitutional process. If anyone has concerns, they should express their views through constitutional means,” Srivastava stated.
Reassuring residents about security preparedness, he added, “Lucknow is a city where we are always ready to handle any situation. Police personnel are well-versed with the standard operating procedures and work daily to maintain public confidence. I urge citizens not to fall for misconceptions but to understand the intent behind the Bill.”
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure a peaceful environment as the Bill moves through the legislative process.
