- Rahul and Priyanka Vadra criticized for silence during Waqf Bill 2025 debate
- Congress had declared opposition to the bill, but has not spoken about victims of Waqf Law
- Hibi Eden, Congress MP, avoiding clear stance on Munambam Waqf issue (174 days ongoing)
Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra, two prominent leaders of the Congress party, are facing criticism. Rahul has been criticized for staying silent during the heated debate on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025. Priyanka Vadra has also been criticized for not attending the entire session.
This is surprising because Congress had declared that they would oppose the government’s Waqf Bill, claiming it attacks Muslims’ rights. However, they haven’t spoken much about the victims of the Waqf Law. Meanwhile, Hibi Eden, the Congress MP from Ernakulam, has been avoiding taking a clear stand on the Munambam Waqf issue, which has been ongoing for 174 days.
Critics say Rahul’s silence in the Lok Sabha is disrespectful to his party and fellow MPs. As the Leader of the Opposition (LoP), he should have at least participated in the discussion or led the Opposition, but he failed to do so.
