External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar welcomed UAE’s Crown Prince, Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on Tuesday during his first official visit to India. Jaishankar shared a warm message on X, expressing appreciation for the Crown Prince’s positive outlook on the strong relationship between India and the UAE.
The Crown Prince, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister of the UAE, is visiting India from April 8 to 9, 2025, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was greeted with a ceremonial guard of honor upon arrival and was received by Union Minister Suresh Gopi.
This is the Crown Prince’s first official visit to India as Dubai’s Crown Prince. He is accompanied by key ministers, government officials, and a group of business leaders, highlighting the growing partnership between India and the UAE. After his meetings in New Delhi, he will visit Mumbai to attend a business roundtable with top Indian and Emirati business leaders. The roundtable will focus on boosting trade and investment, particularly in areas like infrastructure, energy, fintech, and sustainability.
Dubai plays an important role in India’s commercial and cultural exchanges with the UAE, and the large Indian community there strengthens the bond between the two countries. This visit is expected to enhance the India-UAE relationship even further. India and the UAE established formal diplomatic ties in 1972, and since Prime Minister Modi’s visit in 2015, their cooperation has grown significantly. The UAE is home to India’s largest overseas community.
