Leaders will be told about the main goals of the operation, the exact terrorist locations that were attacked, how the strikes affect India’s safety and security, and what steps India is ready to take if Pakistan tries to strike back.
Before the meeting, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and updated him about the situation and rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
The meeting is happening at a time when 13 civilians were killed in Jammu and Kashmir due to shelling by Pakistan’s army. As a safety measure, security drills were held across the country—cities turned off lights, air raid sirens were tested, and people were moved to safe places.
Early Wednesday morning, the Indian armed forces carried out a careful and limited strike on terrorist camps in Pakistan. The goal was to destroy these camps and stop any future attacks. The strike lasted for 25 minutes, from 1:05 am to 1:30 am, and 24 missiles were used in the operation.
The places targeted in Pakistan included the Sarjal camp in Sialkot, Mehmoona Joya and Markaz Taiba in Muridke, and Markaz Subhanallah in Bahawalpur. In Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK), the strikes hit locations like Sawai Nala and Syedna Bilal in Muzaffarabad, Gulpur and Abbas camps in Kotli, and the Barnala camp in Bhimber.
Azhar Masood, the head of the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), admitted that ten members of his family were killed in the missile strikes carried out by the Indian armed forces.
The strikes happened two weeks after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 civilians were killed.
Political leaders from all parties have strongly supported the Indian armed forces after the successful operation. Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, praised the army for its precise and brave actions. Gandhi posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Proud of our Armed Forces. Jai Hind!”
Tensions between India and Pakistan kept rising, which led US President Donald Trump to say that he is ready to help and wants the growing conflict to end.
