KEY POINTS
- Pakistan Army and police personnel attended funerals of terrorists killed in India's strike, revealing clear state-level support for terror outfits.
- Funeral prayers were led by U.S.-designated global terrorist Hafiz Abdul Rauf, with coffins draped in Pakistani flags and full security.
- India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ destroyed nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK, killing over 70 terrorists linked to LeT, JeM, and Hizbul.
A day after the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam claimed the lives of 26 innocent Indians, Pakistan rushed to distance itself from the carnage, claiming it had “nothing to do with it.” But India wasn’t buying the denial. Within 24 hours, Indian Armed Forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, a targeted and surgical offensive that demolished nine terror hubs across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) — locations long known to be sanctuaries for anti-India jihadist groups.
According to reports, over 70 terrorists belonging to Pakistan-backed outfits such as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen were eliminated in the Indian strikes. Yet, the world witnessed something far more disturbing in the aftermath — the open involvement of Pakistan’s military and civil officials in honoring slain terrorists.
Pakistan Army Marches with Terrorists
One of the funerals that drew attention was held in Muridke, a town synonymous with terrorism due to its deep links with LeT and its founder Hafiz Saeed. The funeral prayers, led by Hafiz Abdul Rauf, a designated global terrorist and senior LeT commander, were conducted under heavy state security.

More shockingly, this funeral — not for civilians, but for known terrorists targeted in India’s anti-terror strike — was attended by uniformed members of the Pakistan Army, police forces, and civil bureaucrats. Their participation wasn’t discreet. Videos showed coffins wrapped in Pakistani flags as Army officers marched alongside the funeral procession. These visuals don’t reflect ambiguity; they scream state complicity.
Hafiz Abdul Rauf, the man leading the prayer, has been under international scrutiny for over a decade. In 2010, the U.S. designated him as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT). The designation prohibits any financial dealings with him and freezes his assets — a clear signal of his global notoriety. Yet, Pakistan’s establishment not only tolerates him but allows him to lead funerals of terrorists — in the presence of their own military men.
State Machinery Stands with Terror Networks
The presence of Pakistan Markazi Muslim League spokesperson Tabish Qayyum, political wing of the banned Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) — another LeT front — further confirms the event was not a fringe gathering. PTI reports indicate that JuD members, police, bureaucrats, and army officers all stood side-by-side, mourning men who had died as part of a terrorist infrastructure India justifiably dismantled. This isn’t just an ideological alignment — it is the institutional backing of terrorism.
Retaliation or Reaffirmation of Terror Ties?
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a late-night address following India’s operation, declared vengeance: “We will avenge each drop of the blood of these martyrs.” Notably, his government referred to the dead terrorists as martyrs — a term of honor typically reserved for fallen soldiers, not internationally proscribed militants.

The same day, Pakistan’s National Security Council met and authorized the military to retaliate “at a time, place, and manner of its choosing.” Hours later, Pakistan launched one of its heaviest mortar and artillery assaults in years on Indian villages along the Line of Control (LoC). The barrage killed at least 15 civilians, including four children and a soldier, and injured 57 more, according to CNN-News18.
India’s Measured Yet Decisive Response
The Indian retaliation, Operation Sindoor, was described by officials as measured, non-escalatory, and proportionate. Executed in just 25 minutes during the early hours of Wednesday, the strike effectively obliterated nine terrorist sites inside Pakistan and PoK — all identified as launchpads and planning centers for jihadist operations targeting India.
The Ministry of Defence stated: “A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where attacks against India have been planned and directed.”
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Army’s Colonel Sophia Qureshi, and Air Force’s Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed the success of the operation in a joint briefing.
India’s message was unambiguous: those who host terrorists will face consequences.
Pakistan’s Terror Duplicity on Full Display
While Pakistan continues to make diplomatic overtures about being a “victim of terrorism,” its actions tell a different story. Hosting terrorist funerals with military honors, allowing globally sanctioned jihadists like Hafiz Abdul Rauf to lead prayers, and launching indiscriminate attacks on Indian civilians reveal not a passive state, but an active terror enabler.
