Recently, tensions between India and Pakistan increased when the Pakistani Army sent 300–400 drones from Turkey to attack 36 places inside India. Colonel Sophia Qureshi from the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed this during a press meeting. She said the drones likely came to test India’s air defence and gather information. Experts are now studying the drone wreckage, and early reports say these were Turkish Asisguard Songar drones.
Colonel Qureshi also said that on the night of May 7 and 8, Pakistani forces entered Indian airspace many times near the western border and tried to attack military areas. They also used heavy weapons across the Line of Control.
India acted quickly and strongly. The Indian Armed Forces used both weapons and electronic tools to destroy the drones and protect Indian land. One specific attack on the Bathinda Army post was also stopped successfully by Indian forces, she added.
Pakistan Using Civilian Flights as Cover
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said that Pakistan is using passenger planes to protect itself during attacks. She explained that even after starting a surprise drone and missile attack on India at 8:30 PM on May 7, Pakistan kept its civilian airspace open. This means their passenger planes were still flying, which made it harder for India to respond without risking the lives of innocent people.
She added that the Indian Air Force showed a lot of care and did not respond recklessly, to make sure international flights and passengers stayed safe.
