1. 2027 Census Notification Issued

The Government of India has officially issued the notification for the Census slated to be held in 2027. For the first time since Independence, caste-based data will also be collected as Census data, and a new column will be added to the questionnaire for this purpose. The Census will be conducted in two phases using digital methods, and there will also be an option for self-enumeration. This comes a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level review meeting regarding this.

2. PM Modi to Attend G7 Summit in Canada

The two-day G7 Summit will commence today in Canada’s Kananaskis. Many world leaders, including President Trump and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, have arrived to attend the Summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Canada from Cyprus today. He is expected to meet Canada’s new Prime Minister, Mark Carney, for the first time. Meanwhile India to Represent Global South at G7 Meeting. On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi may hold his first meeting with Donald Trump post the launch of Operation Sindoor.

3. PM Modi promotes UPI globally

During his visit to Cyprus, PM Modi heaped praises at UPI stating that many countries are now using India’s payment system. He added that France has already joined it, and Cyprus has also shown interest. PM Modi emphatically noted that half of the world’s digital payments happen in India..

4. India-EU to Finalize Free Trade Pact by Year-End: PM Modi

7. 80 Victims Identified in Air India Crash

The process of identifying the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash has been speeded up. Dr. Rajnish Patel from Ahmedabad Civil Hospital said that 80 DNA samples have been collected, including DNA of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. So far, 33 bodies have been handed over to their families.

8. Vijay Rupani’s Funeral To Be Held in Rajkot

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will be cremated with full state honours today in Rajkot. His mortal remains were handed over to his family at 11:30 AM from the Civil Hospital and brought to Rajkot by air. His final journey will begin from his residence at 5 PM, and the cremation will take place at Ramnathpara crematorium at 6 PM.

9. Aryan Aviation Services Suspended After Crash

After a fatal helicopter crash in Uttarakhand that killed 7, Aryan Aviation’s operations have been halted. DGCA has also suspended the licenses of two pilots. Aryan Aviation was the company that was carrying out operations during the Chardham Yatra.

12. Flight returns mid-air over technical issue
