In a significant development, Israel’s Ambassador to Bharat, Naor Gilon, highlighted the flourishing relationship between New Delhi and Tel Aviv, especially in the high-tech sector. Gilon mentioned that the bilateral trade has surpassed the impressive USD 10 billion mark, marking a substantial growth from the initial annual trade of USD 200 million. He emphasized that Bharat and Israel are natural partners in the high-tech arena, with both countries steering towards a future characterized by technological advancements.
Gilon shed light on the economic disparity between the two nations, with India being 140 to 150 times larger in terms of population and size. Despite the contrast, the Israeli envoy emphasized the strength of Israel’s economy, which is highly oriented towards high-tech industries. According to Gilon, the collaboration in the high-tech sector is seen as the future of the economies of both countries.
The ambassador also revealed plans for a groundbreaking project called the Centre of Excellence for Vegetables and Spices. Spanning over 25.57 acres in Gundlapalli, Andhra Pradesh, the initiative aims to support local farmers by sharing knowledge and implementing modern farming techniques. Gilon highlighted the significance of this project, which represents the Indo-Israel collaboration’s commitment to empowering farmers across India.
Speaking about the Centre of Excellence initiative, Gilon shared that it would focus on vegetables and provide farmers with better seeds and technologies. Israel currently has 32 active centers across 12 states in Bharat, with plans to establish 14 more in various fields. These centers serve as hubs for knowledge exchange, allowing farmers to learn new techniques and gain insights into modern farming equipment, ultimately enhancing agricultural practices and improving livelihoods.
Gilon underscored the historical depth of the Indo-Israel partnership, dating back to 1992, expressing satisfaction with the robust and healthy nature of the ties. He expressed a strong desire to further strengthen and expand collaboration between the two nations. The ambassador emphasized the role of the collaborative environment created by the centers in fostering knowledge-sharing among local farmers and the implementation of advanced farming methods.
In conclusion, the growing trade ties and collaborative initiatives, particularly in the high-tech and agricultural sectors, reflect the enduring and evolving partnership between Bharat and Israel. The commitment to shared prosperity and mutual growth sets the stage for a promising future in the bilateral relationship.
