Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal released on 1st December, 2023. And since then, this revenge thriller has collected a total of Rs 61 crores on its release day with a global gross collection of about Rs 110-115 crores while Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur stood at Rs 5 Crore. Animal happened to be Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest release of the year, overtaking Pathan which was the big release of Shahrukh Khan in the previous year.

The plot of the movie revolves around the life of an affluent Delhi boy named Ranvijay (Ranbir Kapoor) who lives his life idolizing an emotionally unavailable father (Anil Kapoor) and with a side of romance brewing between Ranvijay and his childhood crush Geetanjali (Rashmika Mandanna). When his father is attacked, Ranvijay, absolutely berserk, seeks revenge. Now, pair the above plot with some alcohol and cigarette you have yourself the perfect Reddy Vanga movie.

Animal has garnered some mixed reviews coming its way, with some calling it an absolute misogyny to some being in awe with the performances put forth by the actors. However, speaking in terms of performance, Bobby Doel as the main antagonist of Animal has added more depth to his character and it is a sheer delight to watch him on screen along with the second half starring Tripti Dimri who appeared in a rather steamy scene. Let’s see what the people of X had to say:

@kommineni87: “what madness acting bro”

@UrsVajrang: “Completed First Half Mad Experience”

@idlebrainjeevi: “#Animal – either you hate it or you love it. Don’t believe when someone says it’s average”

Not only the release of Animal took the people of X by storm but also the trailer dropping of the movie Salaar set to release on 22nd December, 2023 was all about the buzz. The movie, largely an action packed drama, stars the biggest names like Prabhas and Prithviraj in their fiercest avatar with the movie being in the making for close to two years now. Other actors include Shruti Haasan, Jagapati Babu, Eshwari Rao and Sriya Reddy. Talking about how the idea of Salaar was birthed, its director Prashant Nagi in a recent interview said, “The idea of making Saalar had come to my mind 15 years ago, but after making my first film Ugram, I got busy with KGF which took me almost 8 years to make. That is, we first started planning KGF and by the time its second part was released 8 years had passed. In this way, the idea of making this film was already in my mind and during Covid, when KGF 2 was not released, we all had a lot of time because we were all sitting at home. So I worked on it a little.”

So, no matter what your plans are for the weekend, these movies can always find their way to your watchlist.
