As the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas reached 61st day today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the international human rights organisations, women’s groups, and the United Nations for failing to speak against rapes and atrocities carried out by Hamas leaders against Israeli women.
Several Israeli officials highlighted how the women in their nation became victims to gender-based crimes committed by Hamas militants since the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.
Expressing his frustration on international organisations and women groups’ ignorance on severity of threat to Israeli women, PM Netanyahu questioned where all of them are and why they aren’t taking actions against horrible atrocities and sexual mutilation committed against the women of Israel.
Earlier, United States President Joe Biden condemned the sexual violence reports, urging the world to condemn such brutal acts without any exception. Biden called it appalling how women were being repeatedly raped, their bodies were mutilated while they were still alive, their corpses were desecrated by the Hamas terrorists.
The Israeli security forces have faced challenges in gathering evidence and in finding rape survivors as many of them have been killed by the terrorist organisation. They are currently examining over 60,000 videos and 1,000 testimonies to bring the victimised women to justice.
