PM Modi Invites Global Tech Enthusiasts to AI Summit, Emphasizes Bharat’s Role

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended an invitation to tech enthusiasts worldwide to join the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit 2023. In a LinkedIn post, Modi emphasized the transformative impact of AI across various sectors and urged innovators to participate. He highlighted Bharat’s vibrant startup ecosystem and talented workforce, positioning the country as a significant contributor to AI evolution. Modi cited Bharat’s Digital Public Infrastructure initiative as an example of pioneering efforts, offering scalable, secure, and sustainable solutions globally.

Bharat’s Rapid Tech Advancements and AI Leap

Modi acknowledged Bharat’s rapid progress in the last decade, attributing it to technology penetration, mobile connectivity, and scalable models for digital inclusion. He expressed Bharat’s commitment to taking a giant leap in AI to empower its citizens. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined AI applications in serving citizens, enhancing education, improving healthcare accessibility, and informing agriculture practices. Bharat’s approach to growth, innovation, and leadership aims for an equitable and inclusive model that leaves no one behind.

GPAI: A Crucial Forum for Responsible AI Development

Modi underscored the importance of forums like GPAI, where Bharat is a co-founder. GPAI, with 28 member countries and the EU, guides responsible AI development and use. Bharat has actively contributed to GPAI since its inception in June 2020, with significant involvement in initiatives fostering open, safe, secure, and accountable AI. Bharat’s election to GPAI’s council in 2022 reflects its dedication to safe and trusted AI practices.

Bharat’s Lead Role in GPAI and Commitment to Global Welfare

As the Lead Chair of GPAI, Modi reaffirmed Bharat’s commitment to harnessing AI for global welfare. Bharat aims to ensure that nations in the Global South are not left behind in reaping AI benefits. The Summit will focus on a regulatory framework for Safe and Trusted AI, emphasizing collaboration for widespread and enduring implementation. Modi highlighted the AI Expo at the Summit, featuring 150 startups showcasing their strengths.
