Vishnu Deo Sai, the recently appointed Chief Minister, and his cabinet are set to take the oath on Wednesday, December 13. The government made this announcement through a press statement on Monday evening, revealing that the ceremony will take place at the Science College grounds in Raipur, the capital.
Besides Chief Minister Sai and the two Deputy Chief Ministers, several other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs are expected to take oaths during the ceremony. High-profile attendees include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President J.P. Nadda, Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, and other top BJP leaders.
Although speculation about the new cabinet members is circulating, the BJP has not officially announced the names. With the BJP securing its highest-ever tally of 54 seats in the 90-member Assembly in 2023, and only 13 ministerial positions available, competition among party members is high. The selection process must balance considerations of region, caste, and gender.
Chief Minister Sai and BJP State President Arun Sao expressed their gratitude to over 25,000 booth-level workers for the party’s electoral victory. They credited the workers’ hard work and invited them to attend the swearing-in ceremony at Science College on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, officials and some BJP MLAs visited the venue to assess the preparations for the swearing-in ceremony. Among them were former Minister and newly elected MLA Kedar Kashyap, Raigarh MLA O.P. Choudhary, and MLA Balodabazar Tankram Verma.
In simpler terms, the new Chief Minister and his cabinet in Chhattisgarh will be sworn in on December 13. The ceremony is expected to have prominent BJP leaders, and preparations are underway at the Science College grounds in Raipur. While speculation about the cabinet members is ongoing, the party has not made any official announcements yet. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to party workers and invited them to the ceremony.
