Rishabh Pant, the talented wicketkeeper-batsman from Bharat, is gearing up to lead the Delhi Capitals in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The team is optimistic about his full recovery before the 17th edition of the T20 league kicks off. Pant, who is 26 years old, recently participated in a training camp in Kolkata, supervised by the coaching staff, including Ricky Ponting, Sourav Ganguly, and Pravin Amre. The focus of the camp was on discussing player retention and releases in preparation for the IPL 2024 auction on December 19 in Dubai.
Pant, who made his IPL debut in 2016, has played 98 matches for various franchises, amassing 2838 runs with an impressive strike rate of 147.97. Unfortunately, he has been sidelined from competitive cricket for several months due to injuries sustained in a car accident. Despite the setbacks, Pant has shown remarkable resilience and determination in his recovery journey, updating his followers through social media.
The cricketer faced a serious car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, resulting in critical injuries. After initial treatment in Dehradun, he was airlifted to Mumbai for specialized care. Consequently, Pant had to miss the previous IPL season, the World Test Championship final, and the ODI World Cup in 2023.
Nevertheless, there is hope that he will regain full fitness soon and may even be considered for Bharat’s squad in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
