An organization called COGAT, which stands for Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories, are in charge of managing stuff in specific areas, including Judea, Samaria, and the Gaza Strip. They recently opened the Kerem Shalom border crossing to let aid trucks go into Gaza.
On Tuesday, a total of 197 humanitarian aid trucks rolled through. They had to go through a screening process to make sure there were no weapons or anything that could be used for not-so-friendly purposes by groups like Hamas. Out of these trucks, 117 got checked at Nitzana, and the remaining 80 went through inspection at Kerem Shalom.
Before this, only the Nitzana crossing, which is around 50 kilometers away from Gaza along the Israeli-Egyptian border, was open for aid shipments. But now, with Kerem Shalom in the mix, it’s at the meeting point of the borders of Gaza, Israel, and Egypt. That’s the scoop on what’s happening at these border crossings for aid deliveries.
