A petition in Canada is causing quite a stir. A petition before the House of Commons calling for a no confidence vote against the government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has garnered the maximum signatures of any in recent years. Melissa Outwater started it because she’s not happy with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his government. Over 300,000 people have signed it, making it the most-signed petition in years.
The petition, known as e-4701, is all about saying “no confidence” in Trudeau and his crew. It’s backed by Michelle Ferreri, who’s part of the opposition Conservative Party. They want a vote in the House of Commons to kick Trudeau out, and if that works, they want elections in just 45 days. Trudeau leads a minority government, and elections aren’t supposed to happen until 2025.
The petition argues that Trudeau’s government isn’t doing a good job for everyone in Canada. It brings up problems like crazy housing costs, high inflation, and what it calls messed-up immigration policies. They’re also not happy about Trudeau’s leadership, pointing to five ethics investigations and saying Canada’s rep is taking a hit on the global stage.
Trudeau’s already facing some tough times in the popularity department. Recent polls show his party falling behind the Conservatives by more than 10%. And this petition seems to be in line with what Canadians are thinking. A survey found that almost three out of four people want Trudeau to step down, and get this—even a third of his own party supporters feel that way.
