Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing on the TV show ‘Friends’, sadly passed away at the age of 54. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed that his death was a result of various factors. The toxicology report indicated that he had been undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety. Ketamine, found in high levels in his system, could lead to cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression, contributing to his death.
Apart from ketamine, other factors like drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine (used to treat opioid use disorder) played a role in his demise. Perry had been receiving ketamine infusion therapy, but the ketamine in his system at the time of death could not be solely attributed to his last treatment, given its short half-life. No alcohol, cocaine, heroin, or fentanyl was found in his system according to the autopsy report.
Matthew Perry was discovered unconscious in his home’s hot tub on October 28. His passing deeply affected his fans, family, and colleagues, especially his fellow ‘Friends’ cast members. They expressed their grief on social media, sharing memories and tributes to Perry. Matt LeBlanc, who portrayed Joey, shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the time spent with Perry.
Courteney Cox wrote about the favorite times she had with Perry, and David Schwimmer thanked him for the incredible years of laughter and creativity. He also shared a cherished photo from the ‘Friends’ set, expressing a mix of smiles and grief. Jennifer Aniston posted a touching message, expressing her love for Perry and the belief that he is now at peace. The entire ‘Friends’ cast mourned the loss of their beloved co-star.
