Moving on the path of exemplary progress in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma dedicated five projects worth Rs 114.17 crore in Morigaon district’s Jagiroad on Sunday. The CM has termed it as the biggest ever push towards development in this constituency.

Dr Himanta also announced that like earlier, people of Assam “will be able to observe the Jagiroad bull fight during Bhogali Bihu and all the restrictions in this regard have been withdrawn by the government”.

Jagiroad Paper Mill Issue Solved

CM Himanta remarked the closure of Jagiroad Paper Mill in an unfortunate way was painful for the government as well as the people.

The incumbent government, despite knowing the financial situation, made efforts to build the Jagiroad Paper Mill (related to the paper mills of Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited in Jagiroad and Cachar) with indomitable courage and allocated a sum of Rs 810 crore.

The allocated fund was used to mitigate multiple problems like compensation to the affected mill workers.

The CM said the authorities “were able to take historic decisions until many young men and women from these paper mills were provided government jobs in Assam.”

Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Promises for Other Development Works

An amount of Rs 50 crore will be spent to develop a modern drainage system for Jagiroad town to change its image.

A new fire service centre will be set up in Jagiroad.

An amount of Rs 66 crore will be spent to develop the entire stretch of road between Baghara and Amsoi under the Asom Mala scheme.

The upcoming Morigaon Medical College and Hospital will be opened to the public within two years.

CM Himanta praised the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika for changing the people’s life of Assam and Jagiroad. He acknowledged the State’s unprecedented levels of developmental activities for the past few years. The authorities are on the right path to fulfil promise of providing jobs under the Assam Government Sector to 1 lakh youth of the State, he concluded.
