Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during an event in the national capital to commemorate ‘Veer Bal Divas,’ highlighted the growing pride among Indians in the country’s heritage. He emphasized that the world now perceives India in a different light. Expressing his vision for a new India, PM Modi asserted that the nation has gained increased confidence and belief in its people, their potential, dreams, and aspirations.

Addressing the occasion marking the martyrdom of the two sons of Sikh Guru Sri Gobind Singh, Prime Minister Modi stated that ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ embodies a national commitment to preserve and carry forward the concept of Bharatiyata. He noted that this year, countries such as America, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, the UAE, and Greece have organized programs related to ‘Veer Bal Diwas.’

PM Modi underscored the evolving global perception of India, stating, “Even as we take pride in our national heritage, the world has started looking at us differently. The India of today has more confidence in the confidence, ability, and potential of its people.”

He urged a sense of urgency, drawing inspiration from Sikh gurus’ teachings, emphasizing that the mission of life should be to restore and safeguard the nation’s pride and glory. Reflecting on the martyrdom of Mata Gujri, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and their four Sahibzadas, PM Modi asserted that their sacrifice inspires every Indian.

Following his address, Prime Minister Modi flagged off a youth march to commemorate ‘Veer Baal Diwas.’ The government plans nationwide participatory programs to educate citizens, particularly young children, about the exemplary courage of the Sahibzades. A digital exhibition showcasing the life story and sacrifice of the Sahibzades will be displayed in schools and childcare institutions, accompanied by a nationwide screening of a film on ‘Veer Baal Diwas.’

To engage the public, various online competitions, including interactive quiz shows, will be organized through the MYBharat and MyGov portals. The announcement of December 26 as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ was made by Prime Minister Modi on January 9, 2022, on the occasion of the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This day commemorates the martyrdom of his sons Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji.
