In a devastating incident on Wednesday night, a passenger bus collided with a dumper truck and burst into flames on the Guna-Aron road in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district. The unfortunate incident resulted in the loss of at least 13 lives, with an additional 17 individuals sustaining injuries, currently receiving treatment at the Guna district hospital, as reported by the police.

Expressing his condolences, Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to social media platform ‘X,’ formerly known as Twitter, stating, “May God give strength to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragedy.” The Home Minister also wished a speedy recovery for the injured individuals affected by the bus fire.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav responded promptly to the tragedy, taking serious actions against officials deemed negligent. He ordered the suspension of the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) for failing to conduct vehicle checks and the Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) for a delayed response in dispatching the fire brigade team to the accident site.

Member of Parliament (MP) from Guna Lok Sabha constituency, KP Yadav, shared insights into the Chief Minister’s response, highlighting the gravity of the situation. CM Yadav announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured individuals. The MP emphasized the tragic nature of the incident and applauded the swift actions taken by the Chief Minister, who also initiated a probe into the matter.

In response to the investigation, CM Yadav formed a four-member committee tasked with looking into the circumstances surrounding the bus fire. The committee is expected to submit its comprehensive report within three days, shedding light on the details of the tragic incident in Guna, Madhya Pradesh.
