The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently revealed footage of tunnels used by Hamas terrorists, emphasizing the discovery and destruction of the Hamas general headquarters tunnels in the northern Gaza Strip. These tunnels served various purposes, including an electricity network, ventilation and sewage infrastructure, prayer rooms, and resting areas.
In a significant development, the 14th Reserve Brigade Combat Team, under the 162nd Division’s command, located and destroyed an apartment used by Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip. The apartment, near Gaza City, was found to be connected to a strategic tunnel network used by senior Hamas officials.
Soldiers from the Yahalom Unit examined the apartment using advanced technology, discovering a strategic tunnel shaft on the basement floor. The tunnel led to a 218-meter-long passage, with a depth of about 20 meters. Inside, the IDF found an extensive infrastructure, including electrical networks, ventilation, sewage facilities, hideout materials, prayer rooms, and resting spaces.
The tunnel’s design allowed for extended stays and combat operations, highlighting the strategic planning involved in its construction. Following the examination and operational activities, the IDF’s Yahalom Unit successfully destroyed the tunnel.
The IDF shared footage of the soldiers examining the tunnel route and the subsequent destruction of the tunnels in the area of Hamas’ general headquarters. Additionally, an infographic detailing the tunnel route was released to the public.
Recent IDF operations uncovered weapons and warfare materials hidden in children’s rooms and toys. Forces from the IDF’s infantry Kfir Brigade, supported by air and armor forces, eliminated terrorist squads in the Khan Yunis area. Intelligence-guided raids on homes of Hamas operatives led to the discovery and destruction of ready-to-use explosives, securing the region from potential threats.
