Nomination papers of Jailed and former Prime Minister Imran Khan of Pakistan has been rejected by the Election Commission of Pakistan. Tehreek E Insaaf Leader Imran Khan received a major blow after his nomination papers were rejected by the EC ahead of the upcoming elected slated for February 8, 2024.
However, Khan submitted his papers despite the disqualification. Leader Umar Bodla filed Khan’s paers on his behalf. The former International cricketer has been making headlines in the Pakistan politics since he was found guilty of selling state gifts during his tenure as the prime minister from 2018-2022.
Khan filed a plea challenging the conviction in the Islamabad High Court which was rejected, after which the party moved to the Supreme Court. However, he did manage to get bail from the apex court.
Meanwhile, after a district court’s judgement which sent Khan to jail and had him disqualified, his legal team called it a baseless decision.
