Recalling the year as a significant milestone in Assam’s developmental voyage, he credited the achievements to the blessings of his State’s people and Jan Bhagidari or their participation.
After assuming office as Assam’s 15th Chief Minister on May 10, 2021, under his leadership through the Bharatiya Janata Party-led State Government, Dr Himanta showed his commitment towards making this Northeastern State free from militancy and violence.

The recently inked historic peace accord with ULFA Pro Faction and the resolution of boundary disputes with neighbouring States is a testament to the successful governance and creating a more peaceful and stable environment within the region.

The largest-ever Bihu celebration, highest number of tree plantations through the Amrit Brikshya initiative, attaining GI tag for Assamese Gamosa, Muga silk and other indigenous items demonstrate not only a cultural renaissance, in addition to political milestones, but also a broader commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement in 2023.

Through movements like Khel Maharan and Sansritik Mahasangram, sports and culture were also given a boost. These initiatives fostered a spirit of participation and excellence among Assam’s youth.

Record investments, the initiation of plentiful of welfare projects, transparent public recruitment processes, enhancing trust in governance are the features of Dr Himanta’s administration. Additionally, 26,000 government job offerings in the New Year will generate opportunities for the people of Assam.

With Ranoj Pegu serving as the Education and Welfare of Plain Tribe & Backward Classes (non-BTC) Minister, these vital sectors remained a top priority and made several achievements under his guidance in 2023.

Dr Himanta remains highly optimistic stating that the New Year will be more transformative and under his leadership, people of Assam are looking forward to more memorable and proud moments.
