In a significant development, the Bharat film industry is set to halt all film shoots on Monday, January 22, in honor of the Ram Lalla consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has officially declared Monday as a ‘compulsory holiday,’ leading to the suspension of around 100 ongoing film shoots.
BN Tiwari, President of FWICE, announced the decision, stating, “We have declared a holiday, and no shooting will take place on that day as our workers have been given leave for that day.” Tiwari addressed concerns raised by producers about deadlines for TV and OTT shows, emphasizing that shoot permissions would be granted only upon receiving a request letter with a valid reason for the specific shoot.
Acknowledging the impact of the holiday on about 100 ongoing shoots, Tiwari highlighted the industry’s collective decision to take a break on this significant day. The Pran Pratishta ceremony, scheduled to be held in Ayodhya on January 22, will be led by priests, including Lakshmikant Dixit, conducting the main rituals.
Invitations have been extended to several prominent personalities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, Akshay Kumar, Rajinikanth, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Dhanush, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Sunny Deol, Prabhas, Yash, and Rishab Shetty. Many of these stars have confirmed their attendance at the ceremony, which is expected to draw a significant turnout.
In a notable move, a leading multiplex chain announced on Friday that it would host the live broadcast of the Ram temple consecration ceremony across 160 cinemas in more than 70 cities in India. The temple, sprawling over 70 acres, will be open to the public after the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol on January 22. This decision reflects the industry’s collective respect for the cultural and religious significance of the event.
