On Martyr’s Day, the officials visited Bapu’s memorial, recommitting to uphold his values of truth and non-violence. The Indian High Commission in Australia shared their commitment to following Gandhi’s message in a tweet, stating, “They recommitted to follow his message of truth and non-violence, which continues to guide us @MEAIndia.”
Not only in Australia but also in Bharat, the Australian High Commissioner, Philip Green, remembered Mahatma Gandhi. During a visit to Birla House, he reflected on Gandhi’s life and legacy, highlighting the principles of freedom, equality, and non-violence as an inspiration for many. The Australian envoy shared his thoughts on Twitter, saying, “A visit to Birla House was an opportunity to learn about Mahatma Gandhi and reflect on his life and legacy. His principles of freedom, equality, and non-violence are an inspiration for many. #MartyrsDay #MahatmaGandhi #FatherOfTheNation #Gandhi.”
The US Embassy in Bharat also paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. Quoting civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr., the embassy emphasized Gandhi’s inescapable influence on humanity’s progress. The embassy’s tweet read, “Remembering #MahatmaGandhi on the 76th anniversary of his death. As Martin Luther King Jr. said, ‘If humanity is to progress, Gandhi is inescapable.'”

In Bharat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the day by paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in Delhi. In a tweet, PM Modi expressed his respect, saying, “I pay homage to Pujya Bapu on his Punya Tithi. I also pay homage to all those who have been martyred for our nation. Their sacrifices inspire us to serve the people and fulfill their vision for our nation.”
Every year on January 30, India observes Martyrs’ Day to mark the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and honor his significant contribution to the country’s freedom. On this day in 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse at Gandhi Smriti in Birla’s house, just months after Bharat gained independence. The nation remembers and pays tribute to the Father of the Nation on this solemn occasion.
