In a horrifying incident in Pennsylvania, a 32-year-old man, Justin Mohn, was arrested for allegedly beheading his 68-year-old father, Michael Mohn, and posting a gruesome video online. The shocking footage circulated on YouTube for hours before being taken down. Justin Mohn now faces charges of first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and possessing a weapon with intent.
The tragic event unfolded when police responded to a call reporting a deceased male at the Mohn family home. Denice Mohn, Justin’s mother, discovered her husband’s headless body and immediately called 911. She reported that when she returned home, both her son and her husband’s car were missing.
Upon reaching the scene, officers found Michael Mohn’s body in the bathroom, along with a machete and a large kitchen knife in the bathtub. The head was discovered inside a plastic bag in a cooking pot in a first-floor bedroom. Additionally, bloody rubber gloves were found in various locations within the house.
Justin Mohn’s actions were further revealed through a video he had posted on YouTube. In the clip, he identifies himself and reads from a written statement, at one point holding up what appears to be his father’s bloodied head. In the video, he accuses his father, a federal employee for over two decades, of being a traitor to the country. Mohn expresses extreme political views, criticizing President Joe Biden, the Black Lives Matter Movement, and the LGBTQ community. He goes on to advocate for attacks on federal workers, journalists, and law enforcement.
YouTube took swift action, removing the video for violating their policies on graphic violence and violent extremism. A spokesperson confirmed that Justin Mohn’s channel was terminated, and efforts are underway to prevent any re-uploads.
Justin Mohn was apprehended hours later in Fort Indiantown Gap, more than 100 miles from his home. Despite being armed at the time of arrest, he did not resist. He was arraigned via video, and a judge ordered him to be held without bond. His next hearing is scheduled for February 8th, as the community grapples with the shocking and tragic events that unfolded within the Mohn family home.
