Bharatiya pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah has claimed the top spot in the latest ICC Men’s Test Bowler rankings, marking a historic moment for Bharat cricket. Bumrah’s stellar performance in the second Test against England at Vizag propelled him to the summit, where he dethroned his compatriot Ravichandran Ashwin. This achievement makes him the first Bharatiya pacer to reach this pinnacle.

Bumrah’s remarkable bowling figures of 9/91 in the said Test match underscored his dominance on the field, catapulting him from the third position to the coveted first rank. In contrast, Ashwin, who had held the top position since March last year, slipped to the third spot after registering three wickets in the same game.

The rise of Bumrah to the No. 1 spot highlights his consistent excellence in Test cricket, despite previously never managing to surpass the third position in the rankings. His performance included five 10-wicket hauls, with two impressive displays in 2024 against South Africa and England, where he claimed figures of 6/61 and 6/45, respectively.

Bumrah joins an elite group of Bharat bowlers who have topped the ICC Test rankings, including Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Bishan Bedi, further cementing his status as a cricketing stalwart.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Stellar Rise in Test Batting Rankings

In the realm of Test batting rankings, young Bharatiya opener Yashasvi Jaiswal made significant strides following his outstanding double century (209) in the second Test against England. Jaiswal’s exceptional innings propelled him 37 places up the rankings ladder, landing him at the 29th position.

Meanwhile, New Zealand’s seasoned campaigner Kane Williamson maintained his reign at the top of the Test batting rankings, with Australia’s Steve Smith reclaiming the second spot, relegating England’s Joe Root to third place.

Ben Stokes and Axar Patel Shine in All-Rounder Rankings

England’s dynamic all-rounder Ben Stokes ascended to the fourth position in the all-rounder rankings, showcasing his prowess with both bat and ball. Meanwhile, Bharat’s spinner Axar Patel secured the fifth spot, underlining his versatility as a valuable asset for the Bharat team.

ODI Bowler Rankings and Babar Azam’s Dominance in Batting

In the ODI bowler rankings, Australia’s Adam Zampa climbed to the third spot, trailing behind South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj and Josh Hazlewood. Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam continued to reign supreme in the batting rankings, with Bharat’s trio of Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma closely trailing behind.

These rankings reflect the dynamic landscape of international cricket, showcasing the talent and skill of players from around the world as they continue to compete at the highest level.
