Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, accompanied by his wife Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotakis, arrived in Bharat for a two-day state visit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the Greek delegation, emphasizing the importance of the strategic partnership between Greece and Bharat.

During the guard of honor ceremony, Prime Minister Mitsotakis expressed his excitement for bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Modi. He highlighted the significance of the strategic partnership between the two countries, touching upon political consultations, strategic cooperation, and economic ties.
Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Prime Minister Mitsotakis, praising his commitment to strengthening ties between Bharat and Greece. The visit underscores the mutual desire to enhance cooperation in various sectors.
Mitsotakis, who is also the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker at the Raisina Dialogue 2024, is accompanied by senior officials and a high-powered business delegation. The visit aims to foster deeper engagement and explore avenues for collaboration between the two nations.
Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, also present in New Delhi for the Raisina Dialogue, met with External Affairs Minister Jaishankar to discuss avenues for bolstering cooperation between Bharat, Greece, and Europe.
Prime Minister Modi and his Greek counterpart are scheduled to hold bilateral discussions, followed by a lunch banquet hosted by PM Modi in honor of Mitsotakis. This marks the first bilateral Head of State or Head of Government level visit from Greece to India in 15 years, signifying the growing importance of bilateral relations.
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that Mitsotakis’s visit is expected to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Bharat and Greece. The elevation of Bharat-Greece relations to a ‘Strategic Partnership’ during PM Modi’s visit to Greece in August 2023 laid the groundwork for deeper cooperation.
Prime Minister Mitsotakis will also visit Mumbai during his stay in Bharat before returning to Athens. The visit underscores both countries’ commitment to enhancing bilateral ties and exploring new avenues for cooperation in diverse fields.
