‘The problems between Bharat and Maldives are growing, and with this, a Chinese research ship entered the waters of the island nation on Thursday’, according to the news agency Reuters.
Notably, this happened just three months after a similar vessel visited the Indian Ocean and roused security concerns among the Bharatiya authorities.
The visit by the ship also comes after the remarks by the United States think tank that China’s navy can “hold the insights gained from these missions” for the arrangement of naval forces, a hold Beijing calls part of a prepared image-smearing “China threat” narrative.
A research institute owns Xiang Yang Hong 03, which reports to China’s natural resources ministry, made a port call in Male more than a month after leaving its home port of Xiamen in southeastern China.
Before its arrival, The civilian ship, for three weeks, had surveyed waters outside the economic zones of Bharat, the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
