Microsoft co-founder and renowned philanthropist, Bill Gates, has commended the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, labeling it as an “engineering marvel” and a poignant tribute to Sardar Patel. Gates expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending an invitation to visit the monument. Moreover, he lauded the economic prospects emerging for local tribal communities as a result of the monument’s presence.
Taking to social media platform X, Gates expressed his appreciation, stating, “Thank you @narendramodi for the invitation to visit the impressive Statue of Unity. It is an engineering marvel and a great tribute to Sardar Patel. Also great to see it is creating economic opportunity for local tribal communities, especially women.”
In response to Gates’ praise, Prime Minister Modi conveyed his satisfaction, expressing joy over Gates’ positive experience at the Statue of Unity. Furthermore, PM Modi encouraged people from around the world to visit the monumental site in Gujarat.
PM Modi responded on X, saying, “Happy to see this! Glad that you enjoyed your experience at the ‘Statue of Unity.’ I also urge people from all over the world to visit it in the coming times.”
During his visit, Gates also engaged in discussions with Union Minister for IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, focusing on leveraging India’s AI ecosystem to enhance sectors such as health, agriculture, and education. Gates emphasized India’s digital public infrastructure journey as a model for emerging economies, expressing the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s intention to support India’s initiatives towards building inclusive and robust digital economies.

Gates’ visit to Bharat has been multifaceted, encompassing engagements with top leaders and participation in various cultural and local events. Notably, Gates graced the pre-wedding celebrations of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani’s son, Anant Ambani, in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
