Telangana Man Duped into Joining Russia-Ukraine War tragically Dies on the Battleground

FacebookTwitterWhatsAppTelegram

A tragic incident has come to light as Mohammed Asfan, a 30-year-old youth from Telangana, was duped into joining the Russia-Ukraine conflict and lost his life on the frontlines. The Bharatiya Embassy in Moscow confirmed his death, expressing condolences and ensuring efforts to repatriate his mortal remains to Bharat.

Asfan fell prey to a deceptive job scam that promised employment opportunities in Russia. Reports reveal that he was lured under the false pretense of a helper role but was instead inducted into the Russian Army and deployed to the Ukraine border for combat duties. The scam, orchestrated by the Baba Blocks Company, targeted vulnerable Bharatiya men with promises of jobs but ultimately ensnared them into military service.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has been actively engaged in addressing the plight of Bharatiya nationals affected by the scam. In response to concerns raised by various state governments, the MEA has collaborated with Russian authorities to assist stranded individuals and prevent further exploitation. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized the need for caution, advising against venturing into conflict zones and urging Bharatiyas to avoid falling prey to such fraudulent schemes.

Efforts have been made by both Bharatiyas and Russian authorities to address the situation promptly. The MEA issued statements highlighting their commitment to securing the discharge of Bharatiya nationals from the Russian Army. Cases brought to the attention of diplomatic missions in Moscow and New Delhi have been vigorously pursued, resulting in the discharge of several individuals. The focus remains on ensuring the safe return of all affected citizens to Bharat.

The job scam has raised nationwide concerns, with several states reporting instances of young men being misled and recruited for illicit purposes. Karnataka Minister Priyanka Kharge alerted the central government to the issue, citing instances of Karnataka residents falling victim to the racket. The collaboration between state and central authorities underscores the importance of a coordinated response to combat such fraudulent activities.

As the tragic demise of Mohammed Asfan highlights the grave consequences of falling victim to fraudulent schemes, it serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by illegal recruitment practices. The incident underscores the need for heightened vigilance and stringent measures to protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation. The government’s efforts to address the aftermath of the scam and prevent future occurrences remain paramount in ensuring the safety and well-being of Bharatiya citizens both at home and abroad.
