Hunter Biden and his former associates have been invited by the House Republicans to appear at a public hearing in March 2024 as part of the next initiative in their impeachment inquiry into US President Joe Biden.
‘A hearing on March 20 will be expected to take place wherein President’s son and three former associates’ announced The House Oversight and Accountability Committee.
The 14-month probe into the Joe Biden family has focused primarily on Hunter Biden’s international work in countries such as China and Ukraine. Lawmakers have revealed ethically questionable doings by the president’s son and other family members. But Republicans have to yet show present evidence of misconduct by Joe Biden while in public office.
Late last year, Hunter Biden and his advocates had insisted that he appear for a public hearing instead of a private one wherein he sat for last week for more than seven hours. He cited concerns that GOP lawmakers can misrepresent his interview.
The two sides agreed to a sit-down testimony first, followed by a public hearing. But it remains unclear if Hunter Biden or any of the others have agreed to this proposed date by Republicans.
‘We have received the invitation and will respond in writing’, said a representative for his legal time.
‘I expect Hunter Biden to appear as repeated calls have been made to the president’s son for a public hearing’, said GOP Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, chairman of the Oversight and Accountability Committee.
The transcript of Hunter Biden’s deposition gave a preview of what’s to come. Biden was resistant throughout the private interview as the questions of Republicans touched on business matters and his personal life.
