The alert follows Israel’s airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, resulting in casualties, including high-ranking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commanders.
In a statement, Gallant emphasized solidarity between Israel and the United States in the face of Iran’s threats, labeling Iran a “terrorist body” funding groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. He underscored Israel’s preparedness to defend itself with support from its allies.
U.S. authorities, as reported by the Saudi news agency Al-Hadath, assert Washington’s readiness to retaliate against any Iranian attack threatening U.S. interests or personnel. Despite U.S. clarification that it was not involved in the Damascus airstrike, Iran allegedly warned of targeting American troops if the U.S. intervenes.
John Kirby, a National Security Council spokesman, acknowledged the credible threat posed by Iran and stated that the U.S. was reevaluating its force posture in the region.
Amidst escalating tensions, the United States reportedly reinforced its military presence in the Middle East, deploying additional troops and positioning the USS Dwight Eisenhower in the Red Sea as a deterrent.
Iran’s Supreme Leader is deliberating the political implications of potential strike preparations, as per an advisor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei speaking to The Wall Street Journal.
