In response to a recent attack by Iran, Israel has taken significant measures to ensure the safety of its citizens. The Israeli government has announced the closure of all schools and educational institutions starting this Sunday. This decision comes as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) remains on high alert following Iran’s strike, which reportedly involved over 200 projectiles hitting Israeli territory.
Israeli civilians have been urged to remain vigilant and to seek shelter promptly upon hearing warning sirens. They are advised to stay in shelters for at least 10 minutes as a precautionary measure. The IDF has been actively monitoring the situation, with dozens of planes ready to defend the country against potential threats.
Rear-Admiral Daniel Hagari, the IDF spokesperson, addressed the public in a video statement, emphasizing the seriousness of the current situation. He stated that all educational activities, including camps and planned trips, would be suspended for the next few days to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Additionally, the Israeli government has imposed restrictions on public events, prohibiting gatherings of more than 1,000 people. The Home Front Command has issued guidelines to minimize the risk of casualties in the event of an attack.
The recent escalation in tensions stems from Israel’s attack in Damascus on April 1, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of seven Iranian generals. Iran has since retaliated with a barrage of missiles, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones.
Despite the heightened threat, Israeli officials assure the public that the IDF is fully prepared to defend against any potential attacks. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant emphasized the importance of monitoring Iran and its proxies closely, stating that new capabilities have been added to bolster Israel’s defenses.
“We are closely monitoring a planned attack by Iran and its proxies against the State of Israel,” said Gallant during a situational assessment with senior defense officials. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation with strategic partners, particularly the United States, in addressing the current security challenges.
As tensions continue to simmer in the region, Israel remains on high alert, prioritizing the safety and security of its citizens amidst growing threats from Iran and its allies.
