External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar attended an important event celebrating 25 years of diplomatic relations between Bharat and the Dominican Republic.
During the event, he expressed gratitude to the Dominican Republic authorities for their support during Bharat’s Operation Indravati. This operation aimed to evacuate Bharatiya nationals from Haiti amidst a political crisis. In March, 12 Bharatiyas were successfully evacuated as part of this operation.
Addressing concerns over the safety of Bharatiya nationals in Haiti, Randhir Jaiswal, an official at the Bharatiya embassy in Santo Domingo, assured that they were closely monitoring the situation. The embassy, accredited for Haiti, ensured the safety and well-being of Bharatiya citizens amidst the crisis.
EAM Jaishankar also paid tribute to Ambassador Hans Dannenberg Castellanos for his significant contributions.
Castellanos played a crucial role in establishing the resident mission and served as the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps. Jaishankar’s acknowledgment highlights the significance of Castellanos’ efforts in strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, EAM Jaishankar expressed pleasure in commemorating the milestone of 25 years of diplomatic relations. He emphasized the friendly and cordial nature of bilateral relations between Bharat and the Dominican Republic.
