The European Union (EU) and Bharat have come together to condemn terrorism in all its forms. In a recent press release by the Ministry of External Affairs. Both entities emphasized the crucial need for international cooperation in dealing with counter-terrorism challenges. The statement noted their commitment to enhancing cooperation within the framework of the EU-Bharat Strategic Partnership.
The 14th Counter-Terrorism Dialogue held in New Delhi served as a platform for deepening collaboration on counter-terrorism strategies. Both parties recognized the significance of multilateral fora such as the United Nations and the Global Counter-terrorism Forum (GCTF) in addressing global terrorism threats.

The dialogue facilitated discussions on various aspects including regional threat assessments, countering terrorism financing, and preventing online radicalization.
One key outcome of the dialogue was the agreement to strengthen relations between law enforcement agencies in Bharat and Europe. The signing of a working arrangement between Europol and the Bharatiya Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was welcomed as a significant step towards boosting cooperation in combating terrorism.
Emphasis was placed on the exchange of information, capacity building, and fostering law enforcement and judicial partnerships.
The co-chairs of the dialogue, Joanneke Balfoort from the European External Action Service and Ambassador KD Dewal from the Bharatiya Ministry of External Affairs, led discussions on advancing counter-terrorism efforts.
Nicolas Nihon, representing the EU’s Belgian Presidency chair of the COTER Working Group, also participated in the dialogue, emphasizing the importance of collective action in tackling terrorism.

Looking ahead, both the EU and Bharat have agreed to convene the next round of Joint Working Group (JWG) on Counter-Terrorism in Brussels. This commitment underscores their dedication to furthering cooperation and coordination in the fight against terrorism.
With shared values and mutual interests, the EU and Bharat are poised to strengthen their partnership in combating this global menace.
