Bharat and Moldova have taken a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations by signing an agreement on visa waiver for holders of diplomatic and official passports. This agreement, signed on Friday, marks a milestone in the diplomatic ties between the two countries, facilitating hassle-free travel for officials.
Representatives from both nations, Pavan Kapoor, Secretary (West) of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for Bharat, and Ana Taban, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Moldova, formally inked the agreement on behalf of their respective governments.
The MEA announced the agreement through a press release, emphasizing its potential to strengthen the bond between Bharat and Moldova.
The agreement is poised to simplify travel procedures for holders of diplomatic and official passports from Bharat and Moldova. Upon its implementation, individuals possessing these passports will be able to visit each other’s countries without the need for a visa.
This move is expected to promote greater cooperation and collaboration across various sectors between Bharat and Moldova.
Highlighting the significance of the agreement, the MEA underscored its role in fostering friendly and cordial relations between Bharat and Moldova. With diplomatic relations established in 1992, the ties between the two countries have evolved into a warm and stable partnership, as affirmed by the MEA.
Earlier in January, Bharat’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, extended congratulations to Mihai Popsoi on his appointment as Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Through a social media post, Jaishankar expressed eagerness to collaborate with Popsoi to further strengthen the bilateral ties between Bharat and Moldova.
In his message on social media platform X, Jaishankar conveyed, “Congratulate @MihaiPopsoi on your appointment as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova. Look forward to working together to further strengthen India-Moldova ties.”
